Shimon Ohi is a Japanese-American conductor currently based in Cincinnati, OH. He was a conducting fellow at the Aspen Music Festival in 2019 and studied primarily under Robert Spano (former Atlanta Symphony Orchestra). As a conductor he has engaged with the CCM Philharmonia, Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra, Aspen Festival and Chamber Orchestras, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, among others.

A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Shimon began his musical studies as a horn player. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2019 from the Eastman School of Music and performed with the Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Kirishima International Festival Academy Orchestra, among others. During his undergraduate years, he studied conducting privately with Neil Varon. His additional conducting mentors include Ken Lam (Illinois Symphony Orchestra), Mark Scatterday (Eastman School of Music), and Mark Powell (Aaron Copland School of Music).

In addition to performing, he is the operations manager of SouthEastern Young Artists, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to making music accessible and building communities through the arts in the Southeast region of the US.

Shimon is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree as a graduate assistant at the College-Conservatory of Music at University of Cincinnati under Mark Gibson.
