Saxophonist Chi-Chun Chen, born in Taiwan, is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Previously, he studied at Taipei National University of the Arts. His primary teachers include Prof. Arno Bornkamp, Prof. Chia-Hsiu Tsai, and Prof. Yi-Lun Chen.

An active performer, Mr. Chen has won several awards in competition settings, including the first prize of the 1st Asia Saxophone Congress Competition in 2016, and the 3rd prize of the International Chieri Wind Competition in 2019. He was also selected as the Semi-finalist and the Best Emerging Young Performer at the 5th Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in 2017. Mr. Chen has performed in master classes for many world-renowned musicians, such as Jean-Marie Londeix, Nicolas Prost, Vincent David, Philippe Geiss, Alexandre Souillart, Daniel Gremelle, Marco Albonetti, Lars Mlekusch, Otis Murphy, Nikita Zimin, Naomi Sullivan, Hans de Jong, Koryun Asatryan, Hiroshi Hara and Masanori Oishi.

Mr. Chen is the Soprano chair of the IJ Saxophone Quartet. He also serves as the Music Director of the Art Pondo Saxophone Ensemble, with whom he has toured in many venues in Taiwan. Furthermore, he is a member of the MIT Saxophone Ensemble and CvA Sax. In 2019, he performed the saxophone version of Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 with CvA Sax at the Royal Concertgebouw in the Netherlands.
